I was very very impressed with the almost blue metallic foliage of Shadow Boxing. The fruits are pretty, and the flavour is fine, but they fall of the plant way too easy (I have 2 German Shepherds that don't mind about that, they only have to snif on a tomato and it falls off. And what's on the floor is theirs. At least, that's what they think. Back ontopic.) I wouldn't suggest to grow Shadow Boxing outside in a country like The Netherlands. It doesn't like rain at all. In the greenhouse the plant stayed a bit smaller, but it's also a lot healthier.

I think there was a lot of segregation going on in Shadow Boxing when Tom Wagner sent out the seeds, including dwarf and non-dwarf iirc.
I still have most of my original pack of seeds from a couple of years ago, I might try and grow them out in 2015 and see if I can find one that likes the rain of Europe!

I have a few growing in the poly-tunnel, fairly short plants. I haven't noticed fruit dropping off but will keep an eye. I've also got a couple of plants growing outside, lots of blue fruits, thinking about it they might be Chocolate Blues, I'll check later.

This is the seed of Shadow Boxing that I have:
1) The original Shadow Boxing from Tom Wagner 2011; and a trade with Mark McCaslin also in 2011. The original goal was to find a dwarf with anthocyanin and stripes. 1 seed left.
2) Shadow Boxing Regular Leaf, indeterminate Row 2 Plant #1-- Red, Striped, good anthocyanin coverage on 3/4 of fruit. Late August 2012 harvest. About 50 seeds.
3) Shadow Boxing, RL, indet., Red, striped, antho', Row 2 Plant #2. Late August 2012 harvest. About 200 seeds.
4) Shadow Boxing, Dwarf, rugose leaves, Red, Yellow striping, no anthocyanin. August 2012 harvest. About 100 seeds.
5) Shadow Boxing, Dwarf, rugose leaves, Good anthocyanin when green. Anthocyanin fades when ripening. Late 2013 harvest. Gift from someone to me. 15 seeds.

There do seem to be lots of interesting types from these lines. These are some of the more dwarf types I grew last year Attachments:

I am thinking about crossing Shadow Boxing #4 with Clackamas Blueberry, Muddy Waters, or Dancing With The Smurfs. If Dancing With the Smurfs I may try and cross that cross to Kozula #14 at a later date to get a mega-truss striped anthocyanin saladette dwarf. And a final cross to LA3969 for frost resistance. That is my long-term goal.

I've thought a couple of times to use a Shadow Boxing in a cross or two, but not yet done any. Though nothing as thought out as your plans. Good luck with your projects.

Not the best picture but one of the lines I've been growing, slightly elongated, with a pointy end, striped with lots of antho. Attachments:

The flavour on this line is good, this plant gave fruit with a nice mixture of sweet and juicy with a lovely flavour, not too overpowering and slightly fresh (but not GWR fresh) best of all it doesn't have a detectable antho twang about it. I should think it is about my favourite of any of the antho tomatoes I've tried, though production could be better.

A few more toms, the darker coloured ones are from the same 'pointy' line of Shadow Boxing and those with little or faint antho a different line from Tom's seed. I'm not quite sure of the original generation? Attachments:

Not really a dwarf as such, more a short or compact growing indie. There are still segregating somewhat, so who knows, some do have a slight rugose leaf, but I'd not think of them not as a dwarf in other respects. Are you interested in the dwarf lines from Shadow Boxing?
